Gate City Aviation based in Knoxville, TN is now accepting resumes in search of an outstanding aviator to join our team of professionals in the capacity of a pilot flight crewmember.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications and Certifications
- Must be able to be legally employed in the United States
- Must reside within approximately 30 miles of the Knoxville area, or be willing to relocate to Knoxville
- High School Diploma or equivalent certificate
- FAA unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Airplane, Multiengine Land Category and Class ratings
- FAA type rating in the DA-2EASy or Pilatus PC-24 preferred (not required), and/or operating experience in an aircraft with the Honeywell EASy avionics preferred (not required)
- Must be able to obtain a FAA First Class Medical Certificate annually
- FCC Radio Telephone Operator Permit
Minimum Flight Experience
- 3,000 hours total time
- 1,500 hours Multiengine PIC
- 1,000 hours in a turbine powered multiengine aircraft (500 hours PIC preferred)
General Requirements
- Must be able to carry and lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to work sitting or standing for long periods of time
- Must be available to work some holidays and weekends, and be available for work during all hours within any assigned duty period
Job Scope
The successful applicant will:
- Act as a required flight crewmember (PIC or SIC as assigned) and conduct, or assist in conducting, assigned trips within the guidelines of our Aircraft Operations Manual, and with consideration to all FAA Regulations, requirements, and Industry Best Practices
- Model excellent leadership ability/potential
- Have the ability to communicate clearly with crews, support personnel, and passengers, with excellent verbal and written skills
- Successfully manage challenges requiring efficient assessment and response
- Exhibit strong attention to detail
- Participate in our Safety Management System
- Exhibit excellent organizational, task prioritization, and task delegation skills
- Demonstrate strong aeronautical decision making capabilities and outstanding situational awareness
- Exhibit critical thinking skills, and an ability to make safe decisions in various modes of flight, and in dynamic environments
- Provide excellent customer service to our passengers, while maintaining a primary focus on their safety as well as that of the aircraft
- Work well within a team environment to attain performance goals
- Determine airworthiness of company aircraft prior to conducting flight operations, and become familiar with all aspects of an assigned trip to ensure safe operation
- Conduct aircraft preflight inspections in preparation for flight operations
- Perform weight/balance and performance calculations as required/assigned
- Construct and file flight plans for assigned flight legs, and become familiar with all information pertaining to the flight including, but not limited to, disposition of the aircraft to be used, forecasted weather, SIGMETs, AIRMETs, airports to be used, routes to be flown, airspace traversed, special use airspace, NOTAMs, FBOs and services available, local procedures, alternate airports required, and any special passenger accommodations required
- Attend aircraft specific initial and recurrent course certification annually or as required by FAA Regulations
- Work closely with our team of professional Maintenance Technicians and Crew Schedulers to ensure safety and efficiency of operation
Who we are:
Gate City Aviation is a family of Aviation Industry Professionals involved in the scheduling, flight operations, and maintenance of 4 privately owned corporate aircraft operating under Part 91. Our all jet fleet is currently composed of 3 Falcon 2000S/LXS EASy aircraft and 1 Pilatus PC-24. To meet the requirements of our flight schedule, we staff 15 Pilots, 4 In-House Maintenance Technicians, and 3 in-house scheduling/logistics and accounting Team Members.
Although Gate City Aviation is admittedly a new name in the Aviation Industry, this Flight Department has actually existed for over 40 years serving the businesses and interests of Knoxville’s Haslam family. Each of those 40 years have been without any aircraft accidents, pilot furloughs, or aircraft fleet reductions.

As a Part 91 only operator with hangar offices located at the McGhee-Tyson Airport (KTYS), it is our long-standing goal to employ the best aviation professionals available to provide safe and efficient air transportation to several generations of the Haslam family; we also operate our aircraft in direct support of the family’s numerous business interests including Gate City Energy and Haslam Sports Group.
