The Opportunity
We're looking for curious, motivated meteorologists who want to apply their knowledge and experience in real-world aviation operations.
Whether you're a recent or soon-to-be graduate ready to launch your career, an experienced meteorologist seeking a new challenge, or a military-trained forecaster interested in private aviation, we'd like to hear from you.
As an Aviation Meteorologist at ITPS, you'll forecast weather around the world, analyzing constantly changing conditions that affect aircraft operations from departure to destination. From tropical systems in the Caribbean to convective weather in the U.S. and winter storms in Europe, you'll encounter a wide variety of forecasting challenges in a fast-paced operational environment.
You'll build practical forecasting skills while learning how weather information supports flight planning and operational decisions.
What You'll Do
Your primary responsibility will be providing aviation weather forecasting and operational weather support to our clients, including:
- Analyzing current and forecast weather conditions around the world
- Producing and interpreting aviation weather products, including TAFs, METARs, SIGMETs, AIRMETs, weather outlooks, and climatological information
- Monitoring tropical weather and other significant weather systems
- Providing verbal and written weather briefings to aviation clients and flight crews
- Identifying weather threats that may affect flight routes, departure and destination airports, and alternate airports
- Continuously evaluating changing weather conditions and updating forecasts as new information becomes available
- Communicating complex meteorological information clearly and concisely to aviation professionals
- Working closely with flight planners and flight operations specialists to support safe and efficient flight planning
And there's more.
As part of your training, you'll rotate through flight planning operations and develop an understanding of the entire trip-planning process - not just the weather component.
The result is a broader understanding of aviation and a skill set that goes well beyond traditional forecasting.
Structured Training From Day One
We believe great meteorologists never stop learning.
For new operations employees, ITPS provides a structured training program designed to build the knowledge, judgment, technical skills, and confidence needed to succeed in a demanding aviation environment.
New graduates will learn directly from seasoned aviation professionals who have spent years mastering the work. Training combines instruction, hands-on experience, real-world scenarios, and on-the-job coaching, giving new team members the opportunity to learn not just what we do, but why we do it.
For experienced meteorologists and military-trained forecasters, training is tailored to your background and experience, with an emphasis on learning the ITPS operation, our systems, and the unique demands of private aviation forecasting.
Regardless of experience level, our goal is the same: to help every meteorologist become an exceptional member of the ITPS team and continue developing throughout their career.
A Schedule Built for Your Life
Our meteorologists work 12-hour shifts on a consistent 4-days-on / 4-days-off rotation, with days and nights changing every two months.
Yes, the schedule includes nights, weekends, and holidays. But there's a major benefit: you know your schedule.
You'll work roughly half the days of the year, giving you meaningful blocks of time away from work to travel, pursue personal interests, spend time with family and friends, or simply recharge.
For meteorologists who want the challenge of 24/7 operational forecasting with a consistent, predictable schedule, this structure offers an excellent balance.
Develop Your Skills. Expand Your Opportunities.
Your degree or previous experience is the starting point of your career, not its limit.
At ITPS, we encourage employees to build on their strengths, explore new areas of interest, and develop skills that support their career goals.
Depending on your interests and experience, opportunities may include:
- Advanced aviation meteorology and forecasting
- Global flight planning and flight operations
- Client and crew support
- Training and mentoring
- Lead Meteorologist responsibilities
- Leadership, supervisory, and management roles
Whether you want to deepen your forecasting expertise or broaden your skills across aviation operations, we'll help you develop in directions that align with your interests and the needs of the business.
Competitive Compensation & Performance Recognition
We offer a starting salary of $45,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
We believe exceptional contributions should be recognized. Our performance-based pay increase program gives eligible employees the opportunity to increase compensation based on performance and contribution. Are you tired of inflation eating into your earnings? At ITPS, our employee’s pay increases significantly outperform inflation.
Our benefits and employee support include:
- Paid time off
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k)
- Performance-based pay increases
- Relocation assistance for eligible candidates
- Structured training and professional development
- Opportunities for advancement
